Steve is a senior executive with 18 years experience in private industry, and well-honed expertise in general, operational, and financial management. His strong background in strategic and financial business planning and implementation enables him to assess business opportunities and effectively align an organization to accomplish its goals.
Before joining GCG, Steve was General Manager at Klutz after being promoted from VP, Finance and Operations. At Klutz, Steve developed new financial planning, budgeting, and reporting systems which greatly improving decision making. He also created and implemented a cost cutting plan to transition and centralize warehouse functions, saving over $1M per year in fulfillment costs. Previously, he held positions as Controller at PETS.com; Vice President and Controller at GIC Real Estate, Inc., Project Controller at Compass Management & Leasing, Inc., and Financial Analyst at Unisource Financial Group, Inc. Some of Steve’s accomplishments include the following:
- Managed the due diligence process for the sale of a manufacturing company, resulting in a successful transaction of over $45 million.
- Commercial Real Estate - led the finance team on several joint ventures, building accounting and administrative processes, implementing or integrating systems, and hiring new staff.
- Internet Portal – raised $3million in debt financing to extend company life on its path to profitability..
- Manufacturer – launched a new product line resulting in profit growth of over 25%.
- Online retailer - directed an orderly wind down of the company settling all outstanding debt and returning excess cash to shareholders without continued liability to shareholders or senior management.
- Manufacturer - Consolidated and relocated warehouse and fulfillment operations to the Midwest saving the company over $1million dollars annually.
Steve has a B.S. in Business Administration with a Finance concentration from Humboldt State University. He has completed numerous courses at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
